Hyundai U.S. EV Sales Surge in April 2024

What?

Hyundai Motor America reported a slight decrease of 3.1% in vehicle sales in April 2024 compared to the previous year, with 68,603 units sold. However, the company is experiencing a growth in its electrified vehicle sales, particularly in the EV segment.

So What?

Despite the overall decline in sales volume, Hyundai is seeing a positive trend in the sales of electric vehicles in the U.S. In April, the sales of electrified cars increased by 26% year-over-year, with all-electric car sales seeing a notable 31% increase. The company sold over 15,000 Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models in the first four months of the year, marking a 68% increase from the previous year.

What’s next?

Hyundai’s EV sales seem to be on an upward trajectory, with more than 15,400 units of Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 models sold so far in 2024. While the company faces challenges in sustaining this growth throughout the year, particularly in the second half, their focus on electric vehicles is showing promising results. It will be interesting to see how Hyundai navigates the evolving electric vehicle market in the coming months.
