EVgo Surges Past 1 Million Customers!

What?

EVgo, the US public fast-charging network, has experienced tremendous growth, surpassing 1 million registered customer accounts, more than doubling its numbers from just two years ago. This surge comes as a result of a 400% increase in customer accounts since April 2020.

Why does it matter?

The rapid increase in EVgo’s customer base signals a significant rise in electric vehicle adoption rates in the US, indicating a growing demand for public charging infrastructure. During Q1 2024, the utilization of the EVgo network was at approximately 19% nationwide, with a nearly tripled gigawatt hour throughput compared to the previous year.

EVgo’s strategic approach to enhance customer experience includes the introduction of features like Autocharge+, a plug and charge payment feature available to over 50 EV models. The total charging sessions initiated by Autocharge+ more than quadrupled in Q1 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

With close to 40% of EVgo’s stalls now powered by a 350 kW charger, up from 22% in Q1 2023, the company continues to expand its high-power fast-charging capabilities. EVgo’s CEO, Badar Khan, expresses excitement about the potential for growth, with plans to cater to more drivers by increasing their footprint across the US.

How is it going to shape the future?

EVgo’s remarkable surge in registered customers is a clear indicator of the accelerating shift towards electric vehicle adoption in the US. As the company focuses on optimizing customer experience and expanding its fast-charging network, it is likely to play a pivotal role in supporting the growing demand for EV infrastructure nationwide. EVgo’s commitment to innovation and customer-centric services positions it well to continue leading the way in promoting sustainable transportation solutions for the future.

In conclusion, EVgo’s exponential customer growth reflects the evolving landscape of electric mobility, showcasing a promising future for public charging networks and the widespread adoption of electric vehicles across the country.
